Restricted EMS in the RV park

I was reading something the other day about RV parks restricting the use of a particular EMS Electrical unit from use in RV Parks because it affects the use of the neighboring electrical service. As I recall, this particular EMS is being banned from use in most RV Parks.

I had to leave before I was finished reading the post, and now I can't find it. I'm in research for a good EMS unit and don't want to buy the wrong one.

Anyone familiar with this issue, and what EMS unit is involved.

I'm guessing it might have been a Hughes Autoformer.

I believe it is the Hughes AutoFormer which is a power transformer/booster and not an EMS.

I have never heard of any such ban. Doing a search using various search engines also turns up nothing. Perhaps you can find the article and then share it with the forum.

**UPDATE!!

I did more searching and did find one article that was written in 2019. It does reference the Hughes Autotransformer as the one causing the problem. It also recommends the Progressive EMS as the one to use, which is interesting.
Here's a link to the article:

My two cents.....

read the meeting minutes: https://www.nfpa.org/assets/files/Ab...utes_10_19.pdf

And then understand the NFPA governs new code that is used to "Build new RV Parks" or has to be considered in a remodel or upgrade of an existing RV park.

Since the Autoformer is connected to the pedestal as part of the RV wiring (Not the parks wiring) it is not covered in that part of the code.

An Autoformer can not draw more power from the pedestal than what the pedestal breaker system is designed to deliver (under the NFPA and NECA codes)

To be brutally honest here... We have not needed to use our old Hughes AF in many years... and if a park is having power problems that we needed to get ours out - that RV park was ready to be condemned.

Who else has actually used your AutoFormer in the past year??? or needed to???? speak up!!!!

Discussion is apples and oranges essentially. OP wants an EMS which the Autoformer is not. But, good info otherwise.

This discussion has been making it rounds across all of the forums. It was discussed at painful length on the Thor forum starting the end of January.

The only problem I have ever had at a campground was a neutral issue at the pedestal and my surge protector picked that up as soon as I plugged it into the pedestal. Since I was on a half of a buddy site I was able to plug into the adjoining sites pedestal which wasn't being used until the electrician got out there and repaired my site's pedestal the following morning. I have never had to use an Autoformer due to poor power at a campground.

X2

The OP should clarify if it's just a EMS that he was asking about to purchase.
