Rewire outlets

I was trying to wire my 120v so I can use a crockpot while driving. But it's going to the power inverter which appears to only work while plugged in or with generator running. Am I kinda stuck?

Might be easier to just buy a 12 volt crock pot.

Haha. Didn't think about it. Running from cab to galley won't be so bad.

You will most likely need your external generator running to provide enough power to the crock pot. The charging system from the vehicle's alternator may provide enough Amps, but the thin wire used between it and the batteries will not be enough to run your crock pot. I just looked at our crock pot's electrical requirements and it shows 500 watts @ 110 VAC, which means your 12Volt system would need to pump out 41Amps to the inverter.

FYI, the inverter outlet has no power with the ignition turned on. Here's a link to a thread that discusses the situation.

I guess that sums it up in a one liner.

I did that a few times as starving college kid.

Last nights left over sausage muffin, wrapped in tin foil.
Pop the hood, plunk it in, drive to school.
Park, open the hood - eat breakfast.

Only if you find it at the side of the road and are on the highway for at least 3 hours. Cooking times may vary depending on whether you are NA or forced induction.

I had to walk uphill both ways to school in the driving snow, I don't think heat had been invented yet, so we just ate it cold

Pretty sure the knucklehead politicians here in NY banned that practice when they made big Gulps illegal....

Inverter is still powered up, just the TV outlet turns off.

On the SENECA we used the microwave plug and a 6' air-conditioner extension cord. Crock pot sat in the sink, but we had an 1,800 watt inverter.

Why couldn't the OP make the TV outlet operational with the ignition on (by snipping a wire as mentioned in a link above) and run an extension cord to the crock pot which could sit in the sink? My Greyhawk came with a 1000W inverter so maybe the Redhawk has that also. If the OP only has one house battery - I've replaced mine with two 6V golf cart batteries - he should keep the engine running while using the crock pot. Turn it off when he makes a stop so it doesn't completely deplete the house battery. The crock pot would have to be a bit less than 1000W for this to work. Does this sound like it would work?

Behind each outlet that wire doesn't exist. They are normal through. But to inverter. I have two full batteries but everything inside runs to inverter.

Ours has three settings... 1200 / 800 / 500 . I agree that the generator will be needed to supply the power. At 1000w the Inverter would require over 80A of power, add the charging system and other power requirements of the vehicle and that is making the Alternator run about 90A for a long period of time.
