I cannot seem to find that plan where did you locate it? My RV receiver is on the home plan and runs $7 but to stop and start there used to be a start up fee.
There is also a phone app that I use and never have to talk with anyone. Bring up the App, sign in, refresh the signal. Takes about 5 minutes and the receiver is back on.

I've never had an issue with my DirecTV cables
Seems strange that 50' is max on some of these dishes

That is what DISH tells you and the reason is RG6 is not well insulated. Like every other business, they are cheap. It costs money to send RG11 out with the package. As I mentioned above, I went to RG11 because of a couple of places we stay we were tree blocked. I did it originally as more of a test than anything. The 100 foot section works fine. I tried it with RG6 and it will not pick up a signal.
Remember, the power for the Sat dish comes from the receiver. The voltage drops too low over RG6 long runs and cannot power the system.

I have been shutting mine off for years. The people from Dish told me about it. (I re-read your question, I have a Wally they can be turned off and on as you need them, I'm not using one of my home receivers). I have that app but Dish told me it didn't work for turning the Wally on and off. and they didn't know when we would be able to turn the Wally on and off with the app. If I used my home receiver it would be the Hopper with sling, way to big.

I was just reading about RG11 and it says it's good for long straight runs but a pain in the butt to try to bend. I found after looking up cables that the solid center on most cables now are made of steel with a coating of copper to keep the price down. Copper coated steel is fine they say for signal but not good for electricity and satellite uses power and when they tested RG6 with the steel core the voltage dropped to 21 volts at 50 feet and a dish needs 19 volts so it is very close at 50 feet. Everyone needs to check the specs of the cable they buy and spend the extra on solid copper. https://blog.solidsignal.com/tutoria...er-clad-steel/

Yes, as I said in the first post RG6 if you can find good RG6. It is easier to deal with. RG11 is not as difficult as to deal with as they say and most GOOD homes use RG11 in their runs or used to.
A good quality RG6 will work fine.

That alone is worth the $7 a month to not have to wait on hold, be transferred twice, wait on hold again, be on line with someone for 10 minutes while we both wait for the signal to refresh, just to get the receiver going again. I thought about changing out by receiver for a Wally but that just made up my mind.
