RV house battery

Hi, my RV house battery is dead. Any suggestion which battery I should replace with for 2018 Jayco Greyhawk 26Y. I don't have solar panel. Is it easy to replace the old battery to new one? Appreciate for your advice.

Thanks,
Quang

Advice

Take pics before u take the cables off the existing battery. I zip tie the hots together and the negs together to keep them easily re installed and so one doesn't fall down or get lost

I like interstate batteries. But just be sure the new one FITS in the battery bay.

Like Stav said - it's easy as long as you absolutely reconnect the wires up correctly. I took pictures, labeled the wires the first time.

Then I went back and spray painted all of those black wires connected to the battery positive terminal with red paint.

Odds are very high it's a "Group 27" battery. Very common. Some of us pay $$$$ for their house batteries, others of us buy them at Walmart.

I haven't decided whether there's a correlation between cost and longevity yet.

Walmart or Costco AGM Group 27. No water to fill or check on.

Also depends on if how you use the RV. Do you boondock at all? This will use the coach battery, so you'll want to consider a deep cycle at the very least. Does the RV sit for periods of time without being plugged into shore power? Does the RV get driven often (the two last items help to keep the battery charged).

At the very least, consider using a battery tender on the house battery. Also, make sure your battery disconnect (for house battery) is working properly.

I boondock and abuse batteries. The Duracell is my current favorite. And yes, pun intended.

House Battery

And don't forget to check the manufacturer date stamped on the battery. Some stores let batteries sit for over a year before being sold.

Thank you All for suggestion and advice. I don't boondock at all, I tried to run generator once a month to keep the battery charge. I will try costco battery for now.

Just make sure you get the sealed kind so you don't have to worry about water levels.. all else just depends on use and dependency. I don't think there's too much difference between them when you get a name brand.
