Anyone use their in Walley receiver with their tailgater while traveling?

Yes we do... In fact right now.

We added it to our existing Dish network plan for the house for the price of one additional receiver. We have the Carryout mounted to the roof of our Seneca (not an in-motion unit - that is another CW story) and we use it a lot.

We purchased a Wally that is dedicated in our motorhome, for under $100 and I had Wineguard walk me thru the steps to change the DIP switches on the unit to switch from DirectTV. All we have to do is insure it is running at least once a month so the receiver does not un-register itself. Super reliable and we never leave without it.

I have the Tailgater Pro with 2 receivers setup in our trailer. I mount the dome on a mount I attach to my ladder when I do my setup. I did run all new cable for it as the signal was less than adequate using the existing cable TV input. I have Dish at home so it is very cost effective to add the additional receivers.

I have a winegard pathway X2 dish and I had been using a VIP211z. However, a few weeks ago I saw wally's on sale for $41.99 so I bought it. I haven't activated the wally and deactivate the 211 yet. I'm a Dish customer at home, so it's just an extra $7 /month.

"I had been using a VIP211z"

What is the advantage of going to the Wally?

Rick,
Wish I could help you on this one... but never had the VIP211z to compare it to.

What I can tell you about the Wally... It has a USB port to add a storage device so you can DVR the shows you might miss while out touring the locale. It has been used a few times for that. It can connect to the Internet and be used for streaming your shows from Netflix and the other streaming services (we haven't). The remote has nearly as many buttons and switches as a Aircraft (I have no desire to figure out what they do)

It DOES get Stacy her favorite channels anywhere we stop... Keeps her in the "Happy Wife" category - Priceless!

As this was directed at my comment, I did it so I can use a bluetooth adapter to my speakers. I tailgate Illini games (hopefully again someday in our covid world) and I like the idea of having that option. As mentioned above I have the dvr option with the storage device add on, and the box is slightly smaller which I like. I'll hang on to my 211, just deactivate it. Some day, if I want to stream 2 different games at my tailgate I'd be able to, would just need to reactivate the 211. It just seemed worth it to me for 43 bucks. I actually wasn't looking to switch receivers but it was an impulse buy at that price for me.

CefPaf, Yes I installed a extra Dish Wally W/ USB 1tb DVR in our 2017 29MV. It does have beautiful IQ 720P line rate on 32 inch main TV to TCL 32S325 . The biggest issue I have is the tailgater , when I have it facing the correct location it works great but anything blocking the south facing will block satellites. I built a PCV pole off the back of the RV that allows me to rotate and lock the king tailgater.

TGroves - How did you attach the PVC pole to the RV? I am currently building a similar mount and wat to attache it to my Ladder but I'm just not sure how I want to accomplish that...

Marcm157, I home built mine with flagpole holder idea, This is real stable when in winds but would not leave up for travel. Ladder Mount Satellite Mast.

My only issue is crawling up the ladder repeatedly, getting old I guess

Thx Tgroves
