Seneca 37TS Bed Prop

Could someone please post a picture of how the bed prop (master bed) is mounted in the Seneca 37TS. I would like to have a picture of how it is supposed to be when I take my coach back to the dealer so they can correct their screw up and order the parts to repair their damage.

Thanks in advance for any assistance provided.

Can you specify or better yet show a photo of what is wrong so we could send you a photo that will show what you want to see. Mine is just a piece of plywood with2x2 runners underneath. The edge next to the slide is attached with hinges. Do you just want a photo of the hinge area?

I am looking for a pic on how the bed prop bracket is supposed to be mounted to the underside of the bed platform. I believe it is mounted to a small piece of plywood that is mounted between the wood rails that the platform is secured to. In the picture below you can see where General RV mounted mine to the 2 x 2 rail and it hangs down lower than the bed platform and tears stuff up when the slide is extended or retracted.

Sorry, the picture is rotated 90 degrees counterclockwise.

I can not believe anyone would mount that bracket to the bottom of the slide rail. Lucky it didn't RIP the frame apart. My photo would be similar to Rustynuts.

If you look at the picture I posted it started ripping the bed platform apart. It will be interesting to see how they try denying their screw up tomorrow.

Now I see it. That is just moronic sort of like attaching the mud flaps to the tires it just doesnt work that way.

The loop should have been attached to a small 8x5 piece of plywood that is then attached to the underside of the main plywood deck not the sliding rails.

Too bad Jayco went to a Schwintek slide mechanism on the newer Seneca bed slides, otherwise I could fix you up like mine!

During the PDI we found the prop laying loose under the bed in the prop bracket which was attached to the small piece of plywood which had pulled away from the underside of the bed base. You see how they fixed it. We didn't notice it because after we checked the fix they didn't retract the slide until we were back inside the building having a discussion with the Opns Manager discussing the damage to the trim pieces. When I got the coach home and let out the slide I was PO'd to say the least.

Here is a pic of the damage visible when the bed is lifted. The gouge is approx 1/8 inch deep.

Wow that’s just ridiculous. Another thing to check that may need fixing is there is a small plastic pad on each side, make sure the screws that hold them on are countersunk below the surface or it will start eating away at the 2x2 wood runners. Mine were not on either side, just fixed it myself.

Miracles happen

It’s a miracle, the dealer admitted that I’m right and they goofed up. Large portion of the bed base and prop is being ordered.

More info later today or tonight. Waiting for other items to be verified or repaired.

For the update.

Took the coach in and they admitted that they re-positioned the prop bracket wrong and that resulted in the damage to the paneling and trim. They removed the prop bracket and it is disconnected until parts are received.

Also, during this visit they:
  • Replaced a front clearance light bulb
  • Secured the passenger side front rear mudflap and ordered a replacement flap
  • Secured a driver's door seal and ordered a replacement seal
  • Replaced the coach door seal (they found this problem without my attention)
  • Adjusted 2 drawer latches so the drawers stay closed while driving
  • Diagnosed and ordered a new electric cable reel

All-in-all it was a pleasant visit with the service adviser being professional and keeping me informed of the progress along the way.

Now I need to pin point a rattle while driving. I have a suspicion it is the passenger's side mirror but not certain.

Glad it’s working out for you. As far as the rattle or noise, take a look at the fiberglass steps, they don’t do a very good job at installing these tight. I finally tracked down a rattle/thumping on the passenger side and it’s the step. It mounts to 2 metal brackets off the frame and on mine out of 4 screws holding it on, one is broke, 2 have a 1/2” gap between the step and the bracket with the screw holding them apart and 1 is pulled tight to the bracket. The drivers has the same issues but with the screws holding the step off the bracket this lets the step rub and bounce against othe body parts and can make a rattle/thumping sound when hitting bumps. Check out the underside and look for where they might be rubbing like the circled spot in this pic.
