I see the 2016's and newer having far fewer problems with this than the 2015's and older. I have 3 on mine, just like java's. The big difference though is that since we have air brakes, those valves will be actuated much more than the guys with the hydro brakes. Those units will only ever change pressure when the parking brake is activated or when the rear air bags get a good amount of movement. I know driving down the road they move some but those bags need a small volume of air to operate while driving down the road. In some cases, I doubt those bags cause the drain valves to actuate while operating. However, those air brakes sure will cause a pressure difference and actuate those drain valves. I have about 8000 miles on mine and granted, I live in a dry climate, but do trips to southern colorado frequently. I have no rust that I can see and I was not able to detect any water when I installed my additional hose for my air horn. I see this problem being a much bigger issue on the hydro brake systems just because for the most part the only time those valves will be actuated is when the parking brake is set or released. Note also if you look at the design of the drain valves, it collects the water into its own reservoir per se. When activated, it appears to only releases what is collected in there and not ALL the water in the tank. You have to repeatedly activate the valve in order to remove large volumes of water. I however think that pushing the pin manually will open the tank to atmosphere and cause it to flow the entire contents of the tank out instead of just what is in the valve chamber...but dont quote me on that.

I think it might be close to an even trade, we don't have air brakes and as a result our air demand (and compressor cycling) is much less. So less moist air being compressed.

We do all have one other air operated device, our cooling fan clutch. On hot days mine sure cycles running the cab A/C!

In the end I do plan to install a dryer, probably next Spring before big trips begin.
