seneca antenna

We have a 2017 Seneca 37ts. Can anyone tell us what the antenna mounted on the mirror (driver side) is for?

Thumbs up Seneca antenna

Thank you very much. The dealer thought it might be for a CB hook up. In their defense, it is a used unit.

In earlier Freightliner-based Senecas it was a combination AM/FM/CB antenna with a splitter box in the dash. However by your model year I believe they had eliminated the CB functionality, by all accounts it worked poorly in the CB mode anyway.

My dealer told me it was for a CB.... once I got it home I figured out it wasn’t.

seneca antenna

Probably the same dealer that told me the unit had air bags as a safety device and that is why the unit did not have a glove box. I pointed out (based on this site) that they meant it had air bags for ride not air bags for crashes.

2016 was the last year of the AM/FM/CB setup. I have a 2016 and went in and hooked up the CB. I can tell you that yes this antenna sucks. 2017 and later it went just to AM/FM, which works pretty well for that function.

I bought another Freightliner mirror bracket mount like the driver’s side in anticipation of someday mounting a cb antenna on the passenger side....

There are some posts on this site that address the issues with cab radios. Something to do with signal the surface the antenna is located on. Might be worth a search for some suggestions.

You'd be happier with a 4G cell antenna on the passenger mirror arm. Couple that with a signal amp and you will be able to reliably use your cell phone anywhere there is a tower signal, even 1 bar ones. It's also our wifi solution with our phones in hotspot mode. Streaming content to the tv is not a problem with this setup.

I’m unfamilure with 4G antennas. If you have a photo of your set up it would be useful. Thanks
