I had to replace my Seneca's awning arms earlier this year because of storm damage, when I removed my Alumaguard cover the velcro did show signs of "shifting" from what I also suspect is high heat. Black aluminum baking in a hot summer sun has to take a toll on the adhesive! I also did notice that the original power wire was starting to be abraded by the edge of the Alumaguard.
When I was reinstalling the awning I had to install a new awning light power wire (I just "clipped" the old one to remove awning after damage) but I used a heavier wire and put an extra layer of heat-shrink tubing on the new wire where it was near the Alumaguard. Per the Carefree installation/service manual I did reinstall the wire onto the inside of the Alumaguard using 2" wide velcro. I couldn't come up with a better solution for that. But something else I did was install a wire retaining clip into the end of the Alumaguard to anchor the wire to keep it from rubbing. I hope those actions will keep me okay for years to come.
Long story short, I too was noticing wear, but Jayco had installed the wire as Carefree's instructions specified. But a heavier wire probably would hold up better, and I think a wire retainer into the end of the Alumaguard will also help keep it from rubbing.
