Seneca Bridge Height

I have a Seneca 37FS and the specs say "Exterior Height with A/C = 157" (13.08'). Is this really saying it is the maximum height? Airbags are fully inflated, A/C Unit, and the Satelite dish. I wouldn't do this, but if a bridge said the clearance is 13' 1" this Seneca would go under it?

Thanks,
Tod

The only way to measure and be sure is to measure on level ground to the top of A/C or any other highest point accessory. I would like to have at least 3" clearance under any obstacle. Signs can be very deceiving.

I have never seen this, but do they have a height measuring system at truck stops?

You also raised an interesting question. What does the height sign really tell me? Does it say that it is the minimum height of the entire lane?

I have the same height at 13'1". When looking at bridge signs I watch for anything under 14' and will not go under 13'6". You sit up straight when going under bridges at 13'6". The minimum is normally on the side of lane due to the arch, but it can be anywhere in the lane.

To safely measure your actual height from the ground you could get one of these. Carhaulers use them all the time.

When a road gets resurfaced, the clearance will change before the signage.

I too would get real nervous at anything under 13' 6"

Some good videos on measuring the height of your coach and overpass information.

Very uncomfortable with anything under 14 feet. I believe the ICC and DOT have standards that need to be adhered to if heights are less than 16 feet or something like that on major roads. But this is the same government that handles other concerns with variable results.
