Seneca Custom Console Build
I've stolen a lot of ideas that others have posted here so I figured I'd post one of my projects.
One thing we quickly noticed about our '14 Seneca is that there was nowhere to put normal travel stuff. Where do you put stuff like your keys, toll change, gloves, gum, cell phones, or stuff like that? We always ended up with a small pile in the middle of the floor which I don't like and makes getting to the back difficult.
I decided to build a little custom console. I used pre-bent exhaust tubing from Jegs, some 16ga sheet metal, oversized cupholders and USB chargers from Amazon. It has a small compartment in the front for change and that kind of stuff and a large compartment on each side for gloves, maps, or a larger stuff. I used some adhesive backed foam rubber on the bottom of the compartments so stuff does not rattle. The oversized cupholders are perfect for a cell phone or extra beverages for the trip.
Anyway... I think it turned out pretty good and it gives just enough extra storage to keep everything off of the floor.

You need to get a patent and start production. Nice job.

There is always something a guy can add that the factory won't. I am having some fuel tank extensions machined right now then will install and try them for functionality they will add about 4 & 3/4 inches to the filler neck

Oooh great idea! That might also get the fuel filler up high enough where the pump nozzle/handle/thing does not scratch the crap out of the fiberglass when filling up.
Maybe we could work out a trade

AaronM - Another question: How did you secure the console, or does it just rest on the floor?
If you ever offer kits, I can TIG weld mine together! I can see it now, some wrinkle finish paint......!

I actually just welded a little spike in each corner. They poke down into the carpet and the console is heavy enough that it doesn't seem to want to move. We'll find out on the next road test if it stays put.

Thanks everyone!
I finally finished up the re-design of the console. I added a tray to the front which really works nice and made the side compartments bigger. I was going to try to get a picture of it in the motorhome but it has been at Freightliner for the last few days with a no-start problem.

I am busy right now shrinking the rear bed from king to queen size. Wife and I very much looking forward to having more room to get around back there. Especially since adding the washer/dryer, more room at that corner will be welcome.
Plus his console looks nicer than I could probably fab myself!

I can understand the desire to downsize the bed. Unfortunately for us, we have three labs who insist on sleeping on the bed with us, so the king is necessary. I did finally pull the trigger on a sleep number mattress, though - a very nice improvement over the Denver that came with this thing.
