Seneca Disable Side View Camera

Can someone explain how to disable the side view camera that comes on when blinker is switched on? Rob described installing a switch to defeat it but I'd like to just do away with it all together. Is it as simple as cutting the blinker feed wire or something? I've got the dash apart but the back of radio is a tangle of wires and the manual is useless. Thanks

You'll have to remove all the bolts that hold the panel with all the switches onto the dash. You may be able to reach in without removing the park brake knob and the whole panel. "May" being the key word. Probably better to do go ahead and do it. Then you'll be able to find the camera control module. I remember mine being tucked into the right side of the opening. There are some 22 gauge wires running to it and some RCA cables. You'll need to cut the small 22 gauge wires for the side cameras if you want to disable the switching of the camera altogether. Just don't cut the one for the rear view camera! I want to say the side view cameras are the green and brown wires.

Thanks. Dash is already apart just wasn't sure where to go next. So the camera module is separate from radio then?

Sure is. All the cameras and the trigger wires feed into the module. Then there's a video cable from the module to the input on the back of the stereo head unit. But you don't need to mess with the stereo itself or even take it out.

"You'll need to cut the small 22 gauge wires..."

Should I cut the blue wire or the yellow wire?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Too funny! It think the rear view camera is the yellow one. Don't cut the yellow wire whatever you do!!
Ok, comic relief over. Back to work, or play, as the case may be.

Can't you unplug to make sure you are talking about the correct wire? And if you can unplug to test, can't you just leave it that way, unplugged?

This a good idea, those cameras are of no value. Wish they could be set up so they worked. Any ideas???

I have my cameras set up on a dash switch so I can prevent them automatically coming on every time a turn signal is actuated. There is the rare occasion when they are helpful maneuvering by myself which is why I did keep them operational. But they won't work in reverse, the backup camera always has priority!

Wish camera setup was like on my old DP. It was separate from the radio and allowed you to select combinations like side view and rear view at the same time.
This was an upgrade from the original that came with the DP. The old one still had a CRT display!!

This was simple as the wires were labeled. With the guidance on what to look for it was a snap. Hard part is getting dash off but even that isn't too bad. If you think about doing this I strongly suggest swapping overdrive switch and mirror heat switch locations while the dash is apart. Thanks to the forum for the help here. .
