Seneca Field Service Campaign Bulletin D19M4-REV3

Earlier this year we received a letter from the Detroit folks identifying our front axle as one that may need to have this work performed.
So this week I finally got a chance to bring our Seneca into the Freightliner dealer to perform D19M4 field service campaign.
The first picture is our stabilizer bracket and I beam, just messing around I could slide a feeler gage into the gap between the two to verify it was one to be revised. The second picture is after the upgrade.

I attached the Field Service Campaign Bulletin as a fyi to other Seneca folks out there that may be affected and had not been notified yet. The years of build are June 2014 thru March 2018, approximately 1,975 units. It does not specifically say if these are all RV M2's or other type service M2's, or only ones that were assembled in Mexico like mine.

Best to check on DTNACONNECT to see if your specific Seneca has an open recall too. On the vehicle Info screen, Vehicle spec. tab, + (engine/axle/trans/recall/mod) here the recall will be noted. Parts Pro will also show a red highlight note at top of page on any open recalls on your vin as well.

Lastly, while the dealer had our Seneca, I figured why not have them perform the power uprate on it.

If you cannot access your DTNA account you can do a quick check with a flashlight by looking up under the front of your rig where the stabilizer bar bracket attaches to your front axle. Look at the attachment in my first post on figures 3, 4, and 5. Fig 3 is where you will be looking at the front of the front axle. Your front axle will be like one of the two pictures in fig 4, if like the left picture the stabilizer bracket will nest into the flat surface of the axle. If like the right picture (like mine) it may look like the first picture in my original post or like fig. 5 with washers installed. It will be interesting how many Seneca's will be like mine out of the noted 1975 M2 units build.

Thanks Ed!. I received the campaign notice back in March, put it in my desk drawer, and forgot about it. I definitely have the axle configuration that requires the fix, right-side picture in Figure 4 of your pdf attachment. Luckily there is a Detroit Diesel/Allison service facility in Panama City so I won't have to make the 120 mile round trip to the nearest Freightliner facility. Thanks again.

For some reason I can not open the pdf however I did look through my records and the repair was apparently done on my unit last November. I see that the pdf is for revision 3. I will have to check with freightliner to see if this is a further change or if the one previously done is the same.

Thanks for posting.

I thought I would post a couple of pictures of the completed Field Service Campaign for those that recieved the notice and have not taken their unit in yet.

Had mine done in late July at Freightliner in Dothan, Alabama (great service). Thanks again for the reminder

Had ours done this last week. Nice that it included a front end alignment.
