Seneca - House A/C Ductwork

Do the two A/C units discharge to common ductwork? Sure seems so. I was thinking that it would be a better design to separate them and have the front unit cool the rear and vice versa. This would be good in being able to reduce noise in the occupied area by using the opposite living area's A/C to push air to the occupied area. Also swap the T-stat wiring.

Not so loud as to prevent semi-normal conversation, but you do have to crank up the TV volume to overcome it. The difference when OFF is, well, quite quieter and more enjoyable. The auto manufacturers do amazing things eliminating intake roar with engineered resonance chambers in the intake piping. Would be good to do the same with the A/C intake if it were feasible.

Yeah..I can see how that could be annoying. I think your idea of reversing units is awesome!

They are combined. I normally use the opposite unit from the area I am sitting in to keep the sound down. I close almost all the ducts in the room with the unit on. This would not work in real high humidity and heat as you would need both units to keep the temp in check. I also normally leave the unit on and donít use the auto function as the fan on and off is more disturbing then unit running all the time.
