Seneca - OEM Water Filter

I opened up the filter housing Jayco installed in the wet bay to replace the Flow-Pur 8 carbon block filter cartridge with a a reusable non-carbon filter that can remove down to 1 micron particulates. This got me to thinking whether the this a whole house filtration system or just to selected fixtures such as the kitchen and bath sinks. Anyone know for sure?

I would like to replace my cartridge with a non-carbon as well. What brand/model is your replacement cartridge? Thanks.

https://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/A1105.htm Reuse the rubber gaskets from your current cartridge. You can also choose 1 micron disposables if you prefer.

I can describe my 2014 and I strongly suspect yours is the same. I had my wet bay all apart to add my SeeLevel monitoring system so I was able to trace all the plumbing.

The filter is in-line with the water fill connection on the panel. Everything that goes in through your panel hose connection gets filtered whether you are sending it to the freshwater tank (for later use) or if set to City Fixtures to use it directly. When you have it set to use your onboard water pump and your freshwater tank it does not go back through the filter. One time only when you filled the tank, whether it be from a pressurized source or you used "Country fill" to have the pump draw it in.

I have considered installing disposable "point of use" filters on my kitchen cold water line and icemaker line to better filter those souces we sometimes drink from. I know lots of folks never drink from their tank; we have on all 3 motorhomes we have owned. I sanitize the system myself and have never had an issue. But a little more filtration can't hurt, especially if the water has set in the tank for a bit when dry camping.

You might find a countertop filter a smart buy. We have this Berkey unit https://www.berkeyfilters.com/berkey...el-berkey.html and love it. When we're not using it in the Seneca, its on our countertop at home. We also use ice trays filled with Berkey water in the Seneca so we avoid the stagnant water going into our ice from the Norcold ice maker. The Berkey is also great if your water supply of last resort turns out to be a river or lake.

Another benefit of the ice tray approach is you can make ice 'spheres' that are great for muddling your favorite whiskey/whisky.

Crawling in the back of my Greyhawk and looking at the plumbing, I came to the same conclusion.

All inbound (city fill/fixtures or country fill) gets filtered and that's the end of it.

I actually installed a bypass around my filter for use when I fill with city water. Since I'm not full time yet, and fill our water mostly from home using city water, I find that the chlorine in the water helps keep the water tank stay clean so that I rarely have to sanitize it. The bypass also makes it easier when winterizing.

Interesting statement. I never thought about the chlorine removed at the filter.
The carbon filters don't bother me. Of course, I love bar b q, so its kind of a non issue.

Almost as easy as unscrewing the filter canister and running without the cartridge.

How we are rolling right now...
