I am replacing my rear tires- 245/70 R 19.5 load range H. Does anyone have recommendations for tire brand.

Capt. Rich
We replaced ours with the Cooper Roadmaster RM170 and have no complaints.
$1237 delivered and $60 for mounting and balancing.

I have a 2006 Kodiak Chassis Seneca I bought in 2017. I found the Goodyear G647 tires on it were 13 years old (originals with 28,000 miles). I drove the Seneca with the original tires on it from Montana to Illinois (1400 miles) after the purchase. I drove it all last summer camping with the 13 year old tires. I just replaced all 6 tires with Goodyear G647's. I liked the way the Seneca drove with the Goodyears and since the tires lasted 13 years without problems I replaced them with the same. There was no dry rot anywhere on the 13 year old tires, but I was tired of testing fate!

Take note that I have heard that some insurance companies will not insure damage to a rig caused by a blowout if the tire is over 7 years old. I have not confirmed this with my company yet, but have heard others state that they had to fight a claim because of this.

Hi capt Rich. I'm kinda in the same situation. I have a 2007 34ss with 52000 miles. Im still using the original goodyear regional tires date coded in February 2007. The tires have lots tread left and absolutely no signs of any sidewall cracking. My research has led my to either goodyear or Toyo. I would not buy Michelin due to the stories I've heard regarding side wall deteriation..

Seneca tires

Hello All,
I stopped by my local tire shop. I have used them for my Dodge 3500 and VW. I suggested the RoadMaster tires Seneca 2008 used. He said they sell alot of them and have no complaints. The cost is $250 a piece out the door.
I have newer BF Goodrich ST 230 LRG in the front. I called the tire man back and asked him about the Goodrich tires. I thought it would be nice to have all the tires match. He said the BF Goodrich would be $100.00 a tire more and his thoughts were to stick with the RoadMaster. He said the BF Goodrich were load range G and the RoadMaster are H and a beefier tire. He also said not to go much more than 5 years out on any brand. You risk a blowout.
It looks like its the RoadMasters.

Have the new RoadMasters mounted and bead balanced. What are the thoughts on valve stem extensions from the inboard tire thru the outboard tire rim. I have a neighbor with a Newmar Class A with 22.5 Michelins. He told me the extensions are too prone for leaking and causing low pressure blowouts.

We had the same experience as your neighbor on two previous motorhomes.

Our Seneca is easy enough to accurately check the pressure on each tire with its fixed valve stems.
We use this dual head chuck gauge to fit both stems;

I have the extensions. They do leak a bit, so I check tire pressure every time I head out. It's always the outer duals, so I will troubleshoot them at some point. Low pressure will cause a blowout for sure at some point, so it's important to check either way. All it takes is a nail strategically placed so you don't see it easily.
