What say you all on the topic?
We bought our 2015 Redhawk in October in Florida, and 3 days later drove it to Michigan. We spent a week at Ft Wayne Indiana where it was Autumn! The leaves and acorns were falling like crazy. I ended up with all kinds of leaves on top of the sliders, with no easy way to remove them. Then one morning while traveling, we brought the slideouts in after a rain, and then had water inside.

The slideout awnings where never offered to us; I probably would have bought them. The dealer did make 3 separate hard sell efforts to get us to buy the extended warranty and road service. I am interested in awnings for my Redhawk slideouts. Are they hard for an owner to install?

I had the same question while we were looking at various brands - a dealer that sell multiple brands explained that since dealers normally display motorhomes with slides deployed Jayco feared the spring tension could degrade and the topper material become sun damaged from months of continuous deployment - not to mention the possibility of storm damage.

That wouldn't make sense to me. Everything else Jayco makes has them, and sit on lots.

My 2014 Greyhawk 31DS did not have them. I had the dealer install them at my expense before I picked the unit. I chose Carefree of Colorado slideout covers. This is my first RV. I'm very glad I chose to install them. We camp at wooded state parks and I've watched many RV owners spend time and effort cleaning off their slides before pulling them in. I'd hate to do that in the rain!

May I be so bold as to ask what kind of money it cost to have them installed, and did you have one or two slideouts to install them on?

Thanks for any information!

Two slideouts, 108" and 61": $800 parts and $300 labor.

I really wonder why Jayco doesn't make slide toppers standard. Maybe it's to keep the weight down. I had the dealer install mine at time of purchase.

I have a 2015 Greyhawk and it did not come with slide covers. I got them installed at our local CW. Very pleased so far with them. Like someone posted, it is a good revenue source for the local dealer.
