Slide went out, won't retract.

Put my slide out this morning to clean the floor. Slide went out with no problem. Went to retract and nothing.

Any ideas?

Plugged into shore power? If not a weak battery could be the problem.

Do you know where your slide controller is located? If there are any error codes displayed they will guide you as to what the problem may be. If you can post the codes we can Likley provide you with a solution even if only a temporary one.

Is the battery disconnect turned on?

If OP is connected to shore power, it should work. I'd crawl underneath and see if there's any binding or if debris got in the track, causing it not to retract.

You also can manually open/close a slider. You'll need the correct socket size and ratchet wrench (always carry this in the camper in case you are at a campsite and need to leave.

This is a Schwintek slide - There is a manual override on the controller but no direct way to use a ratchet to crank it in or out as with a rack and pinion / through the rail slide. Once you have the motors overridden you can with help, push the slide in or out...

Eureka! It works...

Decided to sleep on it(the Scarlett O'Hara approach) I went back and checked the switch. Everything ok there. Currently battling an infestation of stink bugs so I put the Murphy bed to the down position and low and behold the cabinet door above the bed was not shut. Even though it looked flat when the bed was up, it obviously wasn't. Closed the door, put the bed up and Voila....it closes. PHEW! Now to finish spraying and vacuuming up dead stink bugs.....

Again, Thanks to everyone for all you help, suggestions and patience. Restores ones faith in humanity.

Glad you had a simple fix.

On my 2007 class C, the drivers seat has to be slid forward for the main room slider to open/close. Otherwise, it will scrape slightly against the upper seat.

Slide problem

Check you are level. If not level first before trying to extend or retract

For future reference, my schwintek slides sometimes don't respond (ie I touch the screen or push the button to open the slide, and nothing happens, or I touch the screen or push the button to close the slide, and nothing happens). I've found that if I get no response from the slide (nothing happens) I can get it to work if I push the "other" button and try to do the opposite of what I want to do. It seems to "wake up" the controller. I can then extend or retract the slide as I intended to do in the first place.

I don't know why this works, but I've done it more than once and it works every time.

My bedroom Schwintek slide rarely works on the first button press to extend. The first press/hold nothing happens, wait a second, press and hold a second time and the slide extends. Weird, but the second try always works.
