Solar panel roof mount

How did you mount your solar panels to the roof of your RV's

Mine has a white rubber membrane and I'm thinking of using

aluminum Unistrut to limit the roof penetrations. Has anyone

found a better way?

I screw mine down with the z clips the panels came with. I used buytle tape under the z clips before putting the screws in and covered the z clips and screws with self leveling sealer.

My roof's fiberglass. Each panel is bolted to a long piece of aluminum angle. Angle runs entire length of panel, both sides. Angle is 1 1/4" wide. Wide VHB tape attaches the angle to the roof. Now on year three with no loosening of the supports. So that's about six feet of VHB per 100 watt panel.

I'm not drilling holes in my roof.

Here is the final install picture.

Used aluminum unistrut from Mcmaster. They have all the unistrut hardware accessories.

Add the 3rd panel to cover the junction boxes.

Really like the ability to service the panels without cutting into the install seal material.

I purchased flex panels and intend to use eternabond tape to keep them secured to the roof. Many will correctly claim that frame mounted panels have advantages and can make more electricity for the same size, my concerns were more with the ease of mounting and the aerodynamics of them as I have a rubber roof as well. I purchased a couple more panels than I may have needed to compensate for the lower current ability for size of the flex panels. ~CA

Thank you.

I don't think I have the guts to use double stick adhesive.

I hate the idea of drilling in the roof too but I feel four holes sealed
is fine, for me at least.

Using the z clips means four holes per panel, I don't know how many panels
you have but, bless you!
