Spare Tire for E450

Anyone know where I can purchase a spare OEM steel rim at a reasonable price for my 2019 Redhawk 25R on the Ford E450 cutaway?

I've been searching all day on the internet, even salvage yards, with no luck.

Try some of the tire shops that sell dual aftermarket wheels. Most people do not take their spare steel wheels with them after a wheel swap. One can usually get one at a good price from the shop.

RedHawk spare

Thank you, I was able to buy one off eBay for $40, like someone suggested on this site. I Just had to touch it up with a little spray paint. I was able to buy a tire from Walmart for around $70 with the same rating as my Hankook tires on the rig.

I did do the bumper tire mount but I also put on A turnbuckle and attached it to the steel plate between the bumper and the hitch. It’s Very strong and the shop I brought it to said it should relieve the stress on the welds of the bumper.

Parts for spare tire setup

I purchased a used,5 stud, bumper/ trailer tire mount off Amazon . But the holes did not line up with the wheel holes for E450, however, I found There is a small hole on the wheel between the stud holes, by lining up this hole at the top and using a smaller diameter bolt, I was able to line up two other stud holes at the bottom. I did have to do a lot of fabricating to make the rim fit properly so it did not stick out. I mounted the rim facing inside towards the RV. But you could also mount it the opposite way it just sticks out much further.

I also had to buy longer bolts to clamp the mount onto my bumper. But make sure you buy grade 8 bolts they are automotive bolts and can withstand much more weight and torque.

A few members on the site told me that there have been issues mounting to the rear bumper. They had said that welds on the bumper can break due to the weight of the spare tire and mount. So I took the RV to my fabricator and he suggested a turnbuckle which I also purchased on Amazon. The turnbuckle is bolted into the top of the arm of the mount and attaches to the welded bumper plate which is bolted to the hitch and frame of the RV. This relieves the cantilevered weight of the mount.

Did you search/ call RV salvage yards? Call a Ford dealer parts counter to get their price just for comparison.

I Purchased a rim off eBay. I did call around salvage yards, locally, they either wanted to much money or had the incorrect wheel.

Amazon also sells them I think as new reproduction, when they are in stock.

Have you guys tried changing a tire on the 450? It's no fun.

It's not about changing your own tire. It's about not having to wait for the right tire and or wheel to arrive ! [emoji38]

I just tell the roadside service guy what I need and he brings it out. These RV's aren't running specialized tires, all the roadside guys have them in stock.
