I have a 2018 Greyhawk 26Y that I mounted a spare wheel&tire underneath. Got the wheel off the internet and bought new tire locally and had it mounted & balanced....$200 total. There was enough width between the chassis rails, but tight fore & aft between the black tank and rear hitch. You have to "shoehorn" it up & over the hitch. I used a 2 x 2 angle steel 42 inches long and drilled 1/2 inch holes through the frame rails and bolted it in place. Also, drills two 1/2 inch holes in the angle steel to pick up two of the wheel lug holes. Takes a little time working by yourself and the hardest part was lifting the wheel&tire up while I measured and drilled holes. Would be easier if just the tire.......I think I would "wrap" it somehow to keep it clean and out of dirt, etc.
Good luck on your project.

We are using the Roadmaster carrier like The Logans. I’ve been very pleased with it so far. It’s been on for about a year and 3k miles.

I'm lucky, my neighbor is a master mechanic and helped me fashion up carrier under the rear between black tank and bumper. We used a piece of old frame rail, cut it to fit between frame rails of coach. I also had a crank lift from an older fifth wheel. The rim was hard to find. Took a couple of tries to get right one through my local tire shop, $120. Not great pics but I included them here anyways.

I'm going to try to jerry-rig this underneath somewhere if I can. It says it doesn't fit my 2017 chassis but I think I might be able to figure out a way. here's a link to what I'm looking at:

If anyone has advise, experience, horror stories of this, please feel free to share them.

Do not rely solely on tire winch to carry the load. Notice in pics, we used long threaded rods bolted thru tire rim for extra safety. The winch is used to lift the tire in position. There is plenty of room back there, just need to mount it below frame rails. I should have taken pics of bracket before it was installed. If the tire ever needs to come down, I will do that.

Looks like with some angle iron either welded or bolted across the main frame this could work. Please post pics if you give it a try.
Thanks

I bought a front receiver hitch and installed it on my 31 FS myself. I haul my spare there. Took about two hours and works great. Keeps weight off of the vulnerable rear axle, and doesn’t look bad at all!
