Step light on 2019 Jayco Melbourne

I have a 2019 Jayco Melbourne and the step light will not go out. I noticed the red indicator light stays lit when I even when I turn off or on and will not operate when I press extend or retract. I have installed a brand new chassis batter and I'm afraid it is going to drain it

If you power off the Master Switch does it still stay on?

One band-aid you could consider is replace the incandescent bulb with an LED or just yank the bulb until you get it figured out.

Have not tried the master to the coach. Kind of scared to due to the battery dying a month ago and it locked my steering wheel and we couldn't get the ignition key to turn on.

I don't believe the step light is tied to your chassis or engine starter battery. There are several posts here by Melbourne owners that have had the starter battery die in a short time. There are a couple of posts with solutions. Here is one for you to look at.

Back to your original question. I believe the outdoor light switch operates the step light as well as the light above the entry door. Is that switch on?

The outdoor light is not on, but the indicator light for the retract and extension for the step stays on at all times and I have not noticed that before
