You may wish to elaborate. If they are electric a poor ground is often the problem.

Well you don’t mention what model coach you have but on our Seneca, there is a fuse located up under the steps by the motor, I would probably start by checking there.

It’s a 2018 Jayco Greyhawk. I checked the 5 amp fuse under the steps it’s ok, ground is solid. The four pin plug is tight and connection to the motor are fine. Jayco says there is a 20 amp fuse in the coach battery compartment . I can’t locate it.

On my 2018 Greyhawk I have never seen a fuse in the battery slide out compartment. I guess you have checked for power to steps , bypassing 5 amp fuse. Also is switch by the door working ? My problem was step motor ran but steps did not move. It ended up gear box drive shaft needed to re-tacked welded. New motor was $ 75.00 vs small tack weld. There may be a fuse in battery box but I have not seen it...

Check the magnet or contact wiring on the screen door?

Try starting the vehicle up with the door closed. Let it run for a few minutes and then see if the steps work.

Well, start with the chassis battery, make sure it's charged. As mentioned, the fuses are always good to check. Take a volt meter and check if there is power at the step motor. Remember! The position of your door is important for this one. When was the last time you lubricated the steps. They can freeze if the joints are not lubricated. Take the pin out that connects the motor to the steps. Careful! Secure the steps. They can hurt you. If the motor works once disconnected from the steps, you need to get the grease out. Something like Dry PTFE Lubricating Spray.

Not sure but did you check if the step switch is on ? It is just inside the door.

I appreciate the replies , I will try all of those. The panel shows the chassis battery is 3/4 charged. That could be the problem

Start the engine and try it. The engine battery powers the steps. If still dead, replacing the motor is pretty easy (and pretty common)

Step problem solved. I was getting power to the four pin connector but not to the motor out of the controller. I have Good Sam took it to an RV dealer. The motor shorted out and burned up the controller. They replaced the whole unit motor, gear box and controller. It came to about $1,000, I paid the $250 deductible rather than try to find the right parts and then hope it works. I would’ve had $250 just in the motor and controller if I did it myself. I like to try and repair things on my own , but this worked out better to let them do the repair this time.
