Storage Solution - Battery Chargin

Well, the day came that the storage place I am at priced me out of the place. The place I am moving to is covered, but has no other amenities. No power, no dump station. I am wondering how my batteries will be affected by being off the charger for weeks. I am planning on now taking her home 2 days early instead of one, for pre-flight, charging batteries and letting the fridge cool.

I have some cheap little solar panels around that will not 'charge' a battery but will maintain a charged battery.

About $12 each.

I would disconnect the batteries when in storage.

Otherwise without some type of trickle charge they will discharge and eventually shorten the life expectancy.

On my TT, when I winterize, I remove the battery, bring it in my garage and put it on a Battery Tender Plus 12 Volt 1.25 Amp Battery Charger. I'm guessing I'll do the same on my GreyHawk for both the house and engine batteries.

My storage is the same - no amenities.. so i do as Norty and Bikester do -- disconnect or remove the "house" battery and disconnect the chassis battery. works for me.

No amenities at my storage either, just a gravel lot. I take mine home and float charge it in the garage too. This also inhibits the growth of legs! At a minimum, you'll want to disconnect them. If you have multiple batts, I could see removing them being a PITA. But even disconnected, they will eventually discharge.

Ditto Camper bob's response
