Stuck House Battery door

Anyone have a stuck compartment door for the house battery under the step? How did you get it unstuck? Had no problems opening it last year (2020 Entegra Odyssey 29v). Tried a flat head screwdriver and two of us tried together to get it open. You pull towards you and then up correct? (Or do you just pull up on the compartment door? (top of step) . Tried both ways and can't get it to open. I suspect it's road grime since you can see right to the ground in the battery compartment.

Mine gets stuck too, but normally prying it with a flathead does the trick. Are you able to crawl underneath and use something to push up from the bottom?

Just take a block of wood put it against bottom edge of step and hit with hammer. No need to push from below. Safe travels

Enjoy the journey

Thanks all. Finally got it open. Took two of us. One of us used the claw end of a hammer and one the claw end of a hubcap removal tool. Wow that cover was stuck !!!

Having a lid that we constantly use as steps is a great space saving function but anything that gets on the lip will be a 'glue' and make opening it harder later.

Once opened up, you can take a wet rag and clean the lip before closing it up.

BTW the correct tool to use to open it is one you have in hand or nearby...

Makes sense msherw ! And lol about the tool. I tied a few that didn’t work. Hammering up on a screwdriver didn’t budge it. Took brute strength to pull it up
