Stuck in service

I share this merely as a way to vent a bit.

I brought my rig into the dealer over 6 weeks ago for some warranty work. End of season stuff, nothing serious and nothing that would keep us from camping if it were in season. One of the issues I have is a stress fracture of the shower pan - its got a hairline crack in it. I figured no big deal, pull the pan, check the support underneath the pan, and replace the pan.

Ugh - going on week 7 and I'm still hung up. Its not the dealer's fault, I've been told Jayco is having a hard time getting the rivets that are needed to re-install the shower pan. Everything else on my list has been completed as of 5 weeks ago.

Good thing I'm not camping anytime soon, but jeez. I pay for covered storage so my rig doesn't get all sloppy, and its been stuck in the dealer's lot doing just that. *grumble grumble grumble*

Haha. I feel your pain! I dropped off our rig the first week of October 2015.

As of February 22, 2016 the dealer is still waiting on a part from Jayco.

Thankfully Upstate NY is not conducive to camping this time of year.

I just picked up my Greyhawk from Indiana. It had collision repairs done by an auto body shop that was recommended by the Jayco Service manager. I also had warranty work done by Jayco while it was there. The auto body shop - S&S Auto Body in Wakarusa did a great job on my MH. They go to Jayco on an almost daily basis and said that getting parts is a real problem. Apparently, production is in full swing and doesn't want to give up parts. I had the passenger side wall replaced and all the cargo doors as well as entry door, too. I had a transporter drive the MH to Indiana arranged by S&S and just took it home yesterday. There are many RV's leaving Indiana. My DW joked that she didn't know so many people winter camped. The motel we stayed at was loaded with transporters waiting to pick up RV's. Jayco fixed my 60 mph transmission vibration and the Greyhawk drove like a dream during the 750 mile ride home.

Which rivets for the shower pan are you referring to? Surely not the ones that they sometimes use to secure the wall surround. Those are at lowes, in both white and the almond color. A really good dealer will think outside of the box and use something possibly better. Not too much in an RV that you can't substitute with something better. I hate yall are experiencing this. Stories like this is the reason I do all of my own work, warranty or not. Being I have a very good dealer, I've had them ship me the parts under warranty where I can fix it myself. They get to claim the time, I get to fix it my way. Saves me the fuel money and loss of time. When you full time, you learn to fix things.

Exactly my thought, tied up weeks for rivets? Ace/Lowes/Home depot, local lumber yard.

Woohoo I don't feel so bad now. Mine has been at the dealer since the Sunday after Thanksgiving, it's only been 13 weeks. Front and rear slides were replaced as well as a long laundry list of other items that needed fixin! :-)

Mwade, sounds like you need a different dealer. Of course I don't know your specific situation, but dang. Longest I ever had one at a dealer was a week, and that was for a front cap replacement and paint, rotted slide floor replacement and a bunch of other stuff. Different rig than present. I made sure all parts were in stock before bringing it though.

Yea, my mh. had the normal things that needed to be fixed. Leaky kitchen faucet, floor tile, broke floor vent, tv wireing, water pump, outside air venting into coach, shower leaking. My first appointment was Oct. 2015. I took the mh. to the dealership early on Sept. 18 2015 just so it would be their, and in their hands. I told them we must have it by Dec. 12, because we had a trip planned with the family. They said ok. We called before Dec. 12 to see if would be ready for pickup, and they said yes. On Dec. 12 the mh. was in the shop, and not ready. We put everything back together, and left for the trip. We were gone for 5-6 days, and returned home. The dealership did say they would come get the mh. At my house, and drive it back to the dealership. We live 120 miles away from the dealership. I know the parts never were ordered the first time it was their. So from Dec. to March, we are still waiting! I did receive a notice from the dealership that all parts were in this week. You know, I guess a person just gets to the point where you just give up! I'm tired of worrying about it! I'm tired of arguing with them! I'm tired of trying to figure them out! The worst thing about it is it has been outside in the elements all winter! The dealership did say they would detail the mh, and fill it with fuel. For some reason that doesn't make me smile.

Man I totally understand. Major problems with both my previous Motorhomes landed me back in Indiana for the FR class c and back in Alabama for the tiffin class a. I hardly ever deal with service or dealers, but those were major ordeals. Both times, sternly made it known, I'm arriving this day, leaving this day, make it happen. And of course I always report good, or drag them under the bus depending on results.

Got her home, kept her on shore power overnight to condition the house battery. This morning I took her for a full tank of gas, added some StarTron concentrate to keep the ethanol at bay, then drove her to her covered storage slip.

Ran the genny for 2 hours w/ 2 space heaters cranking to get that fresh stabalized fuel running through the system and to get the genny some exercise.

Its good to have her home !

Yet another Club I am in!

I will preface this by saying that I told the dealer the rig would be in Storage until April and they did find additional work that I was not aware of... but when I dropped it off at the end of October they told me all the work would be completed in a few weeks... I always thought a few meant 2 not 20.

I don't have Jopopsy's covered storage... But I do put a winter cover on and am less then happy to have had the rig exposed to the rigours of Mother Nature unnecessarily. Hopefully she will be home soon. With the mild winter we have had I am hoping to have her on the road soon!
