Sunguard window shades

Has anyone used these? Do they work as advertised? Are they durable?

Never have went the cheap route card board. Sure cuts the light out in the bedroom for better sleep. In the summer use cardboard to help block the heat from the rear window in living area. Store them behind the couch when not in use. Thanks

Ok, thanks for the advice. I will do that. My wife is looking for something a little more aesthetically pleasing. Lol. But your idea sounds like it will work till I figure something out for her!

Were they much of a hassle to put on and take off?

We used something like this on our race car footwells and tranny tunnel.
You could adhere this to some cardboard or similar and achieve good results.
I think it can be found on Ebay if you are looking for much cheaper.

Without it you would burn through driving shoes -- with it, you could rest your
bare arm on the tranny tunnel.

They come w/ either velcro or snap fastners. The fasnters required drilling small pilot holes. I didn't want to do that at first, but the velcro really didn't work - in direct sunlight in the summer the adhesive on the velcro would let loose and the shades would start to drift.

Small pilot hold, dab of caulk on the screw end of the fastner, and put them on. Never had a issue once the caulk set. Then its just a matter of snapping them on and off.

Ok thanks for the info Jopopsy. I just seen another product called magneshades that looks promising. It looks identical to the sunguards but uses magnets instead of snaps. I am going to do some more researching on them.

I use aluminized bubble wrap for hvac pipe. It seems to be very durable. R3 insulation value and has a reflective coating. I cut pieces for each window. They slide up under the pull down shades.

They save heat as well so a lot less heat or AC needed when I have the widows are covered. No fading of the window shades or fabrics inside.

I also cut pieces and hold them up with self stick velcro on the roof vents. Handy when you end up parking under a street lamp! Keeps it cool while traveling.

Raines, I have the Mageshades on the windshield and side windows. It makes a big difference in keeping it cool inside. With the shades on the outside it prevents the heat from coming in. If you us the ones that go on the inside you will already have some heat build up inside.

The magnets hold well up to winds about 60 mph or so. I had one of the side window ones blow off. Was able to recover it.

You never said what you are applying them to...Seneca? I bought mine from Magneshade.com. Don't know if they are sold other than direct. They have different color fabrics available and you can get artwork applied as well for a fee.

Jopopsy could you tell me if you would use these exterior shades again or not. I am wanting to either upgrade my inside shades, which on my Redhawk 29xk is cheap accordion style pleated shades, to a day/night roller shade or try the sunguard exterior ones. I was just curious how you enjoyed yours and if you would use them again or go a different route. Or if anyone else has some experience feel free to comment as well. Thanks!

Lol, well I had just bought my rv when I asked about this. I ended up not doing anything to it until I used it for awhile. So last year I finally started doing some upgrades and I am wanting to either do new interior shades or try some exterior ones. I bought sunpro for the cab windshield last year so I thought maybe about doing the rest of the windows now
