Is 360 horsepower in a new Seneca plenty of horsepower? I currently have a pinnacle 5th wheel...considering a super c in the near future...anyone out there have one and any advice? Thanks

It is in my opinion, I tow a 29’ cargo trailer weighing 10k loaded and the Seneca does great and usually get between 8.5-9.5 mpg. Towing the 10k trailer you won’t win any races on a 6-7% grade but can pull it at 45-50 mph....but I’m retired and an not in a huge hurry any more.

Bought a 2020 Accolade with the 360 HP Cummins. Haven't been through the mountains yet but running up and down I95 it will get away from you if you don't watch your speed. Without using cruise control it has had me in Virginia reckless driving territory (over 80 MPH) a couple of times. Tows the Jeep Grand Cherokee like it's not even there.

I had a 5th wheel toyhauler and F250 w/6.7L engine. It would tow through the mountains at speed with plenty of extra power. NO way does the Seneca compare in this aspect.

I had my 2018 Seneca transmission tuned and the engine uprate from 340hp/700ftlbs to 360hp/800ftlbs.
The trans tune and the engine uprate made a HUGE difference for such small numbers gains. I went from being the rolling roadblock on the hills to now being able to slowly pass the other rolling roadblocks.

I now know what to expect in the hills from the Seneca and just relax in the right lanes on the larger hills.

TO directly answer the questions asked...
Plenty of Horsepower = yes
Would more be better = heck yes

In our case... We rarely are travelling under 32,500LBS with our trailer. We generally are running just over the GVWR depending on how much fresh water we have on-board. We have to climb a 6% mountain pass to get in/out of our home in SLC, and think nothing about hills, mountains or steep grades since we have learned our capabilities in our 2015 Seneca that we have done nothing to the Trans/Engine/Tuning other than bone stock.

Our Seneca even has shown us that it likes the Kingman Grade which I was advisedhttps://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...tml#post825663 is the standard for all vehicles to be tested for J2807. We travel that regularly lately - since we are spending our winter near the summit.

There is more to the equation than HP. The 360 HP 6.7 litre Cummins has 800 LBs of torque. The Cummins 8.3 found in the Dynamax has only 350 HP but with 1000 LBs of torque. At a sustained RPM, the more torque, the more speed up the hills.


As for Rustynuts, I've done the Renogy 400 install as per your info. It's not as pretty as yours but thanks for the info.
