Some have hardwired it into the box inside the power cord compartment. What I did was pulled out just enough cord to be outside the door of the compartment and cut the shorepower cord.

This made me have about 3' of cord still hooked up to the powerbox inside the compartment. I put new connector ends on both ends of the cord I cut so now basically I have a cord that can be removed and stored in a better easier location.

Here is where the Surge Guard comes into play. The Surge Guard comes with it's own connectors on both ends for plugging into the power pole or pedestal. This exposes the Surge Guard to possible theft and the elements.

Now with my power cord having been spliced together with connectors I can place my Surge Guard between the short end coming out of my coach and my power cord I made removable.

This does two important things. It puts the Surge Guard inside a locking compartment and if it ever fails I can remove it easily from the coach until it can be replaced or repaired. Keeps it out of the weather also. Win win and works great!

Wish I could claim ownership to this great mod but happy to say I just found it here on the forum...so many great ideas here!
