I have a dedicated 30amp outlet at the house and always use my portable EMS when plugged in. Checked on it just yesterday and it was showing a PE4 code from a low voltage event a week or so ago during some stormy weather. To me it makes sense to always use it regardless of how reliable the power source may be.

Not a surge protector, but EMS protection. Makes no difference where your at, power can be effected.

I have an EMS-PT50X (actually I have 2 of them - one is a spare) and I never plug in anywhere without one inline. At my home base site, which is a residential lot in a small town, I have been shut down several times due to issues on my line at this location. One time it was High Voltage (132v+) due to a failing power company transformer. Another time was High Voltage Spikes, but this time it was caused by a capacitor bank the power company had coming online at times of need and it wasn't doing it right. They didn't even know it was happening until I became their PIA. I was thanked by one of their transmission engineers after they found the problem and fixed it.

The bottom line is: I NEVER Plug In Anywhere Anytime Without My PT50X in line.

I have a dedicated 30 amp line at home and I always use my surge protection. Your home power is susceptible to power fluctuations as well as any campground.

My EMS is hardwired so no matter where I am I have full protection.
On s a side note "Surge Protectors" are pretty useless as they only offer protection once in the event of a high voltage spike. They don't protect for low voltage situations, loss of neutral or sustained high voltage. etc.

Yes. I like the hardwired Progressive Industries unit.

Get a EMS It's more than a surge protector.

Always use an EMS. Has saved me a few times. I prefer Progressive Industries EMS (Energy Management System).

interesting surge protection is not something that’s spoken about much on rv sites and was not mentioned by the dealer. Is this something most people have? Any recommendation on a good one for a 30 amp service would be appreciated. Thx

Progressive Industries brand, for sure. They have a hardwire and portable version. I have the hard wired.. Didn't want to have to worry about someone toting it off, or me forgetting it. It was easy to install, 20 minutes or so.

Yes..

The more expensive electronics in the house are run through protection and/or UPS units, too.

This is the land of overhead power cables, and electrical storms... so anything could happen :-)

I have a 2018 Greyhawk 31DS. Electric cable comes out through the bottom of a small storage compartment on the side. How/where would I install a progressive industries hardwired unit on this coach?
