If the wires are to short I would add some length to them and make the change.

There are many things you could do.

Dealer repair...time,money in expenses and risk them screwing something up

Redo the connector if possible(pic would be great) to change the wires

Cut the wires at a point either at the panel or underneath where they are all together and rejoin them back so the panel reads correctly.(depending on what type of wire is used)

or what I would do, sit by the fire with a beverage and forget about it. As long as you know black is grey and grey is black no biggie.

I know it is time to dump when the sink won't drain and I can clearly see poo in the toilet.
