The Vanishing Dinette

Hi all -

It seems that removing dinettes from RVs is all the rage today - and i can somewhat get it. For a solo/couple traveler, a four-person dining table seems excessive. They consume a lot of physical area in the the MH itself AND, let's face it...they typically are very dark, 80's-looking affairs...just ugly and out-of-date.

I would like to find a dinette set for two people that can be installed. Smaller all-around size, but still providing a space to securely sit and eat without taking up all the interior real estate. Lighter wood, fabric cushions, etc.

Such rare beasts as small dinette sets must exist in this vast marketplace...but intensive Internet searches aren't turning up much except Rec Pro dinettes...which I find to be (sorry) just the look I want to avoid.

Anybody know of any companies who produce these sorts of dinettes?

TIA..!

Going from four to two, on our arrangement wouldn't save us any space. If we did "two sitting on same side" then we'd free up a foot and a half.

What are you thinking about in your "room for two" setup?

Hi there -

Thanks for the response...! It seems that most dinette seats are 36" - 42" wide. I would like something narrower. More like a typical chair width, i.e. 20"-24". I think I have found some ideas of how to tackle this. Although it will mean more "futzing" with securing the pieces..

Still with many people traveling solo, or just as a couple - you'd think that a narrower dining area would be something some manufacturer would think about.. :-)

Thanks again..!

Take the existing benches and remove them, cut off one side, and reinstall what's left. Buy a smaller table and viola'.

They have already been removed...so now it's just about finding either a replacement or a new solution... :-)

Thanks!

Remember folding "TV trays" that they used to have a long time ago? We bought two, as our Jayco model did not have the dinette table floor pan. I like it that way, and the TV trays are easy to fold away when not in use. I'm way too uncomfortable using a table to eat at.
