Thermostat Fuse - FYI

While diagnosing a problem with the location of my A/C-Heat thermostat, I was suprised to find a 5amp fuse on the power lead going to the thermostat.
It's one of the old school larger blade type. If you ever loose power to your thermostat, remember this thread.

If you are wondering why i had to move the thermostat, it was too close to the heat source behind the wall (the fridge). It was placed about 7" too closae to the hottest part of the fridge wall. It seems to be only a problem in the summer when the fridge is working the hardest...

I would think all of your 12VDC circuits will be protected by a fuse or an auto-reset circuit breaker.. It is neat to know when you find one that is half-way hidden somewhere however...

I lost power at the thermostat on first trip on our 2014 Greyhawk going to Florida 3/13, froze our butts off that nite , Had the thermostat off the wall , furnace covers off, tracing wires etc. Next day pulled the thermostat off the wall again and pulled all the wires behind the thermostat, what a pile of wires jammed in the wall and found the fused power lead with a blown fuse, why would any one put a fuse in a wall behind a thermostat and why did it blow, it's been working fine for the past 3 days ??
