Total Newbie figuring out the manuals

We just bought home, yesterday our 2019 Seneca 37K.

First challenge over.

Big one. How do we know what systems our unit has? The manuals all say "If your unit has this.."

Where the heck can we find this list? Only list we have is what pretty stuff we have the options. NOT which type systems that we actually have and are to check and maintain.

Is there a suggested place that we can go to find out for our specific unit?

Congratulations on the Seneca and welcome to the forum.

Yes, the manuals are often too generic to be of much help. If you call Jayco with your VIN# they may be able to help. They do send wiring, framing, and plumbing diagrams so they have a way to answer your question.

Usual the model brochure gives the standard options and additional packages.
Manuals are pretty standard covering the operations for different models of the same series.
It might take a little to figure out, but you always can ask questions on this forum on particular issues.

Congrats on the purchase! A tip for you...

Hello and congrats on the new Seneca. I purchased ours last year. It has been fun trying to find certain things and, of course, I have learned a few things the hard way. One item that you will want to check is the lever for your black water clean out hose connection. I found out that my front tank is actually number 2 and my rear is number 1. keep in mind that my slide out front is #1 and the rear is #2. There are a few other quirky things like this but I'll get back to the point. When you are using the black tank fill, make sure you are trying to clean out the proper tank!!! I usually open the black tank valves on both and switch the lever back and forth while I am cleaning them out. If you make the mistake I made, you may have a toilet filling to the rim before you realize you have the wrong tank open??? Dual tanks can be so much fun...I used a sharpie and marked the levers! All in all, we love the RV. It has a few issues that are being worked on and worked out, but for the most part, this is the best RV we have had (owned three so far).
Good luck in your travels and I hope to wave to you someday as we roll on down the road.

We ended up having some of the wrong manuals for our trailer. Just a matter for finding the manufacturer and the serial number and looking it up online. Dometic just bought Atwood awhile back, which adds more confusion to the mix.

Welcome to JOF! and welcome to the Seneca family.

The manual leaves a lot to be desired, but ours did cover the basics and sometimes was in direct conflict with the warning stickers placed on the motorhome.

I would suggest that you get a step stool and go over every inch of your Seneca... take your phone and take pictures of things you don't recognize (we on the forum like a picture to help clarify what others are asking). Look in the back of every cabinet! There are usually an important component or switch stuffed in the back.

Do the same thing in the outside cabinets, especially looking up for pumps, valves and motors.

Then break out the manuals and learn about all these things that are in your Seneca, and keep the manuals IN the Seneca... we find we need them from time to time even years later.

Very true... and we found we had manuals for equipment that was never installed on our Seneca (we had manuals for ultraheet tank heaters that we don't have)

The nice thing is now I have most of the manuals online and very easy to search.
