Towing
I am anxious to purchase a Seneca after I put in my retirement papers. My question is, what is the best way to tow a car or small suv ?
I have seen them towed with all 4 wheels down, also with the front 2 wheels on a dolly. Or would it be best to tow on a small trailer?
Any information or opinions would be helpful.

I'm sure you'll hear from a number of folks on this. Like you listed, there are a number of ways to tow. If there was just ONE best way, that's you'd see out there.

We tow Honda CR-V 4-down with blue ox tow bar. No issues.
About to upgrade from CR-V to Wrangler.

Do you plan on buying a new vehicle that you're going to tow? Or, use an existing vehicle that you currently have ? Most automatics (new models) can not be towed "4 down". All wheel drive - no. Jeep -yes (providing you 4x4 wheel drive).

I was told last summer by an experienced camper "Person", that there are only 2 vehicles that can to towed on all 4 wheels. A Standard Jeep Wrangler and a Saturn. I have a Jeep. Just hook it up. Place transfer case in Neutral and thats it ! Not sure how the Saturn works. A friend of mine has a Automatic Jeep and it requires 13 steps to ready his Jeep for towing.

Thank you to all for the information, a lot more to think about than I was aware of. If all goes well a new vehicle to tow , just need to find out which ones can be towed and which cannot.

We are towing an 05 Honda CRV - one of the few imported automatic trans. cars that can tow 4-down. Have put over 7,000 miles towed w/no problems.

When we had our MH we towed on a trailer. Mainly because we were towing a Tahoe and we already had the car trailer. It worked well for us. To make this a easier process I welded a bead on the floor this is where I placed the back tire. This put the load in the correct spot on trailer ever time. Then I cut chains so they were the right length and painted the links Red for the front and blue for the back. I painted both links on the chain where the binders hook. Under the Tahoe I attached 4 clevis 1 in each corner This cut down loading and binding time . But the one good reason for me using a trailer is a good idea is you can back up and you can see in your mirrors what is happening while towing.

My folks used to use the Dolly, but that and a trailer is a pain to deal with in tight camp spots. So now they have towed 4 down for 10+ years, mostly Saturns (coupes, Sedans, and a Vue), and now tow a Grand Cherokee (think they just have to pull a fuse to not drain battery), another friend tows a Buick Enclave, All with no issues.....

As a non-MH owner my thoughts are worth about what you paid for them.
I can't see how anything would be easier than 4 down towing. A neighbor tows his Chevy HHR this way thousands of miles a year. He is 86 y/o and can connect and detach that chevy 5 min or less. I would assume you simply disconnect the toad prior to backing 99% of the time. The other 1% might be challenging, but its only 1%.
Any other method you have to deal with fitting a trailer or dolly in your site along with the MH and Toad. That is a lot of real-estate

The owners manual for our 2015 Equinox includes very clear instructions for towing 4 down - almost like GM caters to the toad crowd.

Things to remember .. when towing flat you cannot backup..
a flat deck trailer is best BUT what do you do with it at the campground? most places will charge you to store it...
That leaves the tow dolly...
