Towing a Ford Focus

I have been looking for a Suzuki Sidekick for a Towd. So far not many around. Looking at the Ford Focus as my next choice. Anyone tow the Ford Focus with the 5 speed, or can the automatic transmission be towed? I can't find the correct answer on either. I guess I need to find someone who actually towed one. Thanks Stan

SIL tows a Fiesta with AT behind their class A if that helps in anyway

It depends on the year and engine. In general the focus equipped with the ecoboost can't be recreationally towed (as per the owners manual) but many with the 2.0 can be with certain restrictions. It's vehicle specific so it's a difficult question to answer fully without detail on the actual car you choose.

I tow a 2017 Focus on a tow dolly but have seen several on highway being towed by flat tow. I have the SE model front wheel drive , automatic.
