Yes, here are the X-Gauge codes which worked for me.

I run a scan gauge in a 2014 Grayhawk.

My transmission temps were over 200 degrees so I installed an oversize Trans pan. It carries an extra approx 8 quarts of trans fluid.

I now have temps between 180 to 200 degrees. Before the pan change, I would see temps well over 220 when climbing mountains out West.

Mine runs about 140-150ish when pulling the trailer. It might increase 10-15 degrees when pulling a hill. Just hit 300K on the truck this trip!

Pulling a 7,000 lb enclosed 24' car tailer with my 2018 Tahoe (with towing package) - the trans runs 188-195 degrees.

Pulling same trailer with my Super C diesel - the Allison 3000 TRV runs 180-195 degrees.

Tahoe has a transmission cooler with the tow package. Usually stays below 180 on level roads, will go a little over 200 up mountains or very hot weather. Really like to keep it below 200.

On our F450 pulling 26000lbs up hills we have seen temps upto 238f. Under normal conditions level ground Freeway speeds it stays below 220. Unloaded we never have seen any high temps. Newer ATFs do not show breakdown until over 255f.

Transmission Temperatures

My 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins and 48RE automatic will run about 190 pulling the Eagle. I have a Mag-Hytec Double Deep pan and measure the fluid temperature from two different places. I read the temperature from the cooling line leaving the transmission which in the case of the 48RE is basically fluid just leaving from the converter. That is the 190 degree temperature I referred to. It will climb to 205 to 220 pulling hard with the converter unlocked. I also read the temperature in the pan. To me this temperature is more important as this is the fluid temperature the transmission is pulling from. The pan temperature usually runs about 40 degrees less than what is heading to the two coolers.

I know mine runs pretty cool, usually around 130 degrees on long, relatively flat stretches of Interstate highway. I wish I know where the temp sensor was in my 2011 Ram 1500. Maybe it does help keeping the temp lower by letting the engine rev higher (2200 to 2400 rpm) while keeping the the transmission in a lower gear (4th).

Allison 1000

I added a mishimoto transmission cooler, mag-hytec pan that hold 2 extra quarts and pull my 2020 317RLOK in Temps exceeding 90 degrees with A/C on, in 5th gear and my temp never gets over 175 up and down hills. When I upgraded my cooler from stock to mishimoto I'd dropped temp approx 20 degrees. I was always told 100 degrees over ambient temp was ok. I like to keep as cool as possible because heat breaks down fluid faster.
I have a 2006 duramax 3/4 ton with the bulletproof Allison 1000. Allison transmissions are the best out there, don't know where someone got the info that the ford's are better. 🙄

Are you watching the dash gauge? I have an 02 gasser with the Ally 1000 and can't find an option to read a digital temp.

What transmission? I am on my phone so if it is showing in your signature, I apologize because I can't see the signature

SmokerBill, I am pretty sure the transmission temperature sensor on the Mopar’s are located on the transmission valve body. That temperature is pretty close to what the fluid temperature is in the pan. As long as the torque converter remains locked, your transmission temperature should be good. I’m curious if the 130 degrees is running empty or towing. Running empty with my 48RE (basically a beefed up 727 from the 70s for us old guys), my transmission temperature runs about 140 and 100 in the pan. We’ve had sub-zero ambient temperatures here for the last 7 days and I haven’t seen much movement from transmission temperature gauges at all.

That's the temp when pulling my 26BH, which weighs in at about 6000# when loaded of for camping. I watch the transmission temp pretty close when towing. When I reach the foot of a grade I take it out of cruise control and let the speed gradually decline until it the torque converter unlocks. That's usually around 45mph.

That's when I manually drop it into 3rd gear, and depending on the grade I can maintain 45mph with the torque converter remaining locked in. If the grade steepens and the torque converter unlocks again, I'll drop into 2nd gear and continue uphill at 30 to 35 mph. Doing that the temp still rises, but usually only up around 150-160 degrees.

But that's when I'm not impatient. Other times I'll keep the transmission in 4th and let the rpms run around 3000 or so. And that's when I see temps nearing 200 degrees. And I know that temps like that are no problem with full-syn transmission fluid. I think 275 degrees is reaching the point that causes the fluid to start breaking down. It might even do the transmission a little good to run warmer every once in a while. It might cook out any water/moisture that's in the fluid.

Probably overkill, but it gives me something interesting to do while I'm driving. It's kind of a game for me to keep the transmission temp as low as possible. LOL

There's a member in a RAM forum I used to frequent that's a RAM tech, and he suggested that it's possible that my RAM has a temperature-sensitive valve that is supposed to shut off transmission flow to the cooler when it's cold, and opens up when the fluid gets hot. And that the valve is stuck in the open position.

I think I looked for the valve and there wasn't one in the position he said it should be located.

My transmission gauge rarely goes over 160 degrees. On goes higher if the torque converter can't stay locked up.

On our 2019 F450 pulling a Siesmic 4114 through Utah we have seen 230 temps on the tranny fluid. Normally we are around 200. My understanding is the New Ford Trans are designed to run hotter.
