Have not been to Lancaster in years. O the memories. All of it is great. Look for the covered bridges and visit all the small towns along the way. O I miss the pretzel place as well. I can't remember where we stayed but if nothing else KOA might be a good stop. Enjoy the memories. Don't forget to visit the Strasburg Train museum. One of our favorites.

From MA, we typically take I-84 to I-87 to I-287 to I-78 to US-222. It's a bit of a round about way, but it avoids the major cities and works for us.

From Bristol, I'd go over to Danbury, I-684, across the Tappen Zee Bridge (or whatever it's called now), 287 to 87 to 78. Get off at Rt. 61 (the Cabela's exit west of Hamburg). 15 miles of secondary roads then Rt. 222 into Lancaster.

Did the Tappen Zee dozens of times from SE CT when our daughter lived in York both in the car and the 5th wheel. Unfortunately we had to do I-95 to get out of CT. The worst part of the trip.

A lot of things to do around York also. Fire museum, watch museum, Turkey Hill Ice Cream, Wilton Armedale Foundry. American Antique Automobile in Hershey. Georges Furniture factory tour is a gem. Engineering on their expanding tables & rocking chairs has to be seen to be believed. Ended up purchasing a dining room set. Top quality at reasonable prices. Harley Davidson plant in York also.
