Trip to Amish Village PA
Hello,
We are planning a weekend trip to Amish Village in PA and wondering if anyone has any recommendations of RV resorts near that place?
Thanks in advance

Amish Village?
You mean there is large enough camping without hitch posts ? No horse and carriage hook-ups needed 🤪

We haven't stayed at any, but drove through a couple as we visit that area often on weekends before we got an RV.
There are like five close, one right next to Ronks, PA...called
Florys Cottages and Campground, but it's in the town proper like ... nice camp ground.... but Mill Bridge Village and Campground ( GOOD SAM CLUB) looked best, just south of that area about a mile or two... they are all listed on the APP ALLSTAYS... we'll probably hit Mill Bridge Village later next year when we return... to the area maybe.

Many years ago my mother purchased a pair of oven mitts near Harrisburg and the thumbs were on the side rather than in line with the other 4 fingers and they were fantastic because when you grab a cookie sheet Or anything hot your thumbs need to be on the side. Guess we had 1 too many parties and they just walked away.

We are fortunate to have several Amish settlements in Maine. We can get some of their well made items easily.
We met a group of 11 in the campground near Baxter State Park in Maine from PA. They had an English driver and a Winnebago towing a toad. They were out doing a road trip.
While they don't drive cars they do ride and their solar arrays on farms is remarkable. They do embrace some technology.
During the OP's visit do see if you can ask what modern conveniences they do use. You may be surprised ( but it is all up to the bishop in the final say)

We spent Sunday (8/16/2020)night at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA. What a delightful place. Would recommend it to anyone. Its under new management, which meant nothing to us, but some say it is a big improvement. It does not have a pool, so if you are looking for that, try somewhere else. But the "executive sites" have a wonderful view and you are minutes from Lancaster and the Strasburg Railroad.

Country Acres Campground in New Holland is also another very nice campground with a section of large pull thru sites. A bit difficult to get last minute reservations there though as it is usually booked far in advance, but worth a try calling.

A friend of mine took his kids (teenage boys) there several years ago. They stopped and watched a man plow a field with a mule or horse. He asked the man if he and the boys could try and he let them. Spent almost an hour taking turns and learning how to do it.
Said the man invited them and the rest of the family to dinner but they had a rehearsal dinner to attend and couldn't go. I bet the kids still talk about it. Would love to go visit that area sometime.

We just returned from Lancaster and Berks counties after doing two antique shows in Shupps Grove, Kutztown Renningers, and Adamstown Renningers. Between the shows, we stayed at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA, which has been mentioned already in the blog. We had a great stay at the campground. It was clean and well groomed. The view overlooking the Amish farmland is magnificent. There is also a farmer's market within a short walking distance. And, if you are staying on a Friday and Saturday, be sure to walk across the road to the Amish farm house. The lady who lives there has a bakery open on Fridays and Saturdays. She offers all manner of pastries, pies, and breads.

They have some funny town names out there. Fertility, Intercourse, Paradise and Bird-In-Hand just to name a few!

We've stayed at the New Holland KOA (actually before it was a KOA) and the Old Mill Stream Campground next to Dutch Wonderland. If you're looking for something in the middle of Amish country the New Holland KOA is nice. The Old Mill Stream campground is right on route 30 which is convenient for getting to different places in the Lancaster area. We had no issues with the facilities at either campground.
Sight and Sound Theater has reopened with live shows (we were there last week). They are limiting seating and you must wear a mask but enjoyed the current show "Queen Esther" and everyone was conscious of maintaining appropriate social distancing.

Thumbs up on Shady Maple! I'll have to give Yoders a try next time we're in the area.

One of our favorite campgrounds is Country Acres, but as mentioned, they are often booked way in advance.
We've also stayed at the Lancaster/New Holland KOA. The campground is well groomed and the views are fantastic, but the sites are tiny and IMHO not worth the price they charge.

I know a lot of families with young kids stay at that Jellystone which isn't too far away. My wife is trying to convince me to go there next summer. https://jellystonepa.com/

We have been camping in this area for 30 years & have stayed in most nearby campgrounds. Our favorite is Country Acres campground. Spacious & clean with friendly staff.

Lancaster / New Holland KOA
We have stayed there several times and we are going back in Oct. owners are very nice. The view is excellent and the sound of the horse and buggies is soothing. You can’t go wrong in my opinion.

Florys in Ronks, PA is great. Nice hosts and our site backed right up to two Amish farms. We were able to sit outside and watch the children coming home from school and walking across the field and then playing outside and also families working together. You'll see plenty of horses and carriages and the Amish Farm to tour is not too far from there either, but it is on the much busier main drag whereas Florys is very serene and peaceful except for the clip clop of horses' hooves.
