TV (Television) questions
Hi, Can you watch TV when you are dry camping without running the generator? If you can how. Also is there a way for the kids to watch TV while traveling? Thanks for your help.

Depends on the coach, some have inverters, some do not. If you have an inverter you may be able to watch TV without the generator but don't get too excited as you only have so much battery and that could be an issue quickly especially if you're in a place where you are limited when you can run your generator.
What coach do you have?
Thanks,
Jeff

Most of the TV only use 12v. You may have to get the cigarette to tv adapter. As far as you antenna or satellite receiver, I don’t know if they can power by 12v. I usually just hook up my IPhone to the TV using an IPhone to hdmi adapter, and mirror the programs on my phone to the TV to watch

We have a 2012 Greyhawk. I think there is an inverter. Anything else we can do? Any ideas on how the kids can watch tv while traveling?

What RV TVs only use 12V? My 3 TVs all use 120V and will not run without a hookup or the genny running. If you have solar you can run a TV but the time is going to be limited unless you have a very big battery bank.
There are some 12 volt TVs but few RVs come with those installed.
There are some posts here about how to activate the TV while on the road. It involves clipping a wire that deactivates the TV for driving safety. You can do a search (gold bar at the top of the page) or someone will surely pop in with the info.

My 2018 16XRB has a 12 v TV. As a matter of fact just about all tv today are 12v. Even the one in your living room. If it has a circular port in the back where it plugs in. It’s 12 volts

Sorry I'm new to this and not sure how to navigate it. I'd like a link for the person who said they had a Jackery. Not sure what that is. Thanks

You have to modify the outlet that the TV is plugged into for it to work while driving. You could use your inverter or the generator. Here's the thread about fixing the outlet. You would also need an in motion satellite system.

Lucky you. All of mine in the RV Are 120 as are my home TVs. I checked no 12V unless you special order.

When on the move, we use a phone as a hot spot and the wife can watch whatever she wants using the inverter, TV and Roku. Even without using any data, I have a portable drive with movies connected to Roku. As stated above, you have to modify the receptacle to allow it to work when the RV is moving.

If your plug is hard wired into the TV, and not removable you could cut off the transformer , and but on a cigarette male adaptor using a solar panel type connector. I would bet if you look at TV’s power rating in the manual or back of TV. It will say 12vdc

You can do a few things
You can get an inverter, with cigarette lighter adapter, run the TV off that as you drive
Then you can charge it from the cigarette lighter on the cab to the 8mm charge port as u drive
I use solar to charge mine, or if I'm gunna run my big or small Genny, I'll use that
I have two, use one charge one
Rinse and repeat

We have a small DVD player with it's own screen, which can operate from 12v
