unintended winter camping

Three day weekend usually means our 16 year old wants to spend a night in the motorhome. So we pulled it out of storage yesterday. Flushed the antifreeze out. And plunked it in an open spot in a Colorado State park close by.

It was mid 40's yesterday. And ground was dry.

Wife noticed storm clouds on the horizon, which I shrugged off.

Looks like about 4" of fresh snow fell over the night.

Camper's plugged in to the 30A outlet, with gas and electric heaters running. Tank heaters are on. I also plugged in an additional electric heater to the 20A outlet on the pedestal and kept the plumbing warm in the rear.

Half tank of propane will easily last us one more day.

The snow is light fluffy and pretty. But -- my fingers are crossed that it doesn't get too cold before I can re-winterize!

You will be just fine. We just did 2 nights, one at 23 and one at 21 without issue with nothing but our furnace. I know that every unit is different, but I would't be worried until you are down in the low 20's for days without getting above freezing.

Im going to cherry creek 19,20. Hope it doesn't get too cold. Grand kids want to go, I'm not so sure. Probably will be a lot of fun.

I'm on the North side of things - so we did St. Vrain. I checked on Tuesday for a Saturday spot and found one.

We had that at Chatfield SP in Oct, 2011, 60's most days then dropped to 17 and 7" of snow. Park scurried to shut of and drain water lines when they heard the forecast, so we filled the tank. Our 08 SENECA survived just fine with electric heaters. Never ran the furnace.

Tell me about it.

We left Michigan on Nov 8th to take our 26BH down to Alabama for it's winter storage (we live in Michigan, but store it down there so it's easy for us to escape Michigan and tour the south in the winter).

Figured we'd take a couple weeks to hang around Memphis, TN. We're camped in Tom Sawyer's RV camp right on the Mississippi, and it is COLD!!!!!!

Barely over freezing during the day, and below freezing at night. This stinks. Supposed to warm up, but in the meantime, it's COLD!!!!!!!

Really cold in my neck of the woods as well and winter doesn't start for another 6 weeks.
