USB port on dashboard

Hello,
My USB port stopped working. I’m trying to remove it but no luck. Any tricks or ideas how to remove and replace?
Thank you

On mine, it is a usb plug inserted into a 12v cigarette light style opening. It appears that may be the case with yours. I would try to slightly twist it and pull outwards to see if yours is like mine was. I ended up replacing that style with a double usb port that also shows voltage. If that is not the case, then I suspect it is installed like a 12v outlet and will have to be unscrewed from behind which means you have to pull off the facia which can be a challenge as it is one piece that covers that area, and above, and the gauges as well. ~CA

If you need to remove the black facia, it is very simple. Start pulling from the bottom right corner towards you. They just snap off and push to snap back on. Start from the bottom of that side and work your way up and then to the left. Gradually pull on the top, then bottom. There would be wire connectors to each of the plugs below that you would need to disconnect.

What I did was add a DBL USB port with volt meter to one of the cigarette lighter ports, works well

Also

The USB on mine connects to the Soundstream system as well, not sure yers does, but that could be your issue

Dash removal and USB/Voltmeter Add

The dash is easy to remove.

Start at the right side and using a trim removal tool (https://amzn.to/3hTmTTX) pry at the snap-in fasteners.

You can also just yank on the dash panel but risk breaking the clips. I have used both methods but feel safer with the tool.

You can get to the USB plugs without totally removing the dash.

I added a dual voltmeter (measures house and chassis battery) as well as a USB port to the upper panel.

The entire assembly is switched so I can run it with the ignition off. Yes, I do have to remember to turn it off!

I agree. On my 2018 Greyhawk 29MV with the Garman Fusion, that USB port is not a charging USB. It is the input for an iPOD or other musical device to be played over the MH sound system.

On my 2020 29MV, that USB port connects an iPod/iPhone to the Soundstream radio. It will also charge the device, but only if the Soundstream is on.

I have a 2018 29mv, it charges our phones just fine because the radio should have 2 usb coming out the back, 1 is for updates only and 1 is for ipod/phone charging, depends on which one was ran to that opening...
