Using 15 Amps (residential plug) for the AC in the 29MV

Having purchased the Jayco Greyhawk 29MV in Feb '16, I kept it plugged into a 15 amp (residential plug) for several months until the building and electric were done to accommodate the coach. That is when the coach was not in use. The plug-in was only to keep the battery topped off.

I never tried to run the 15,000 BTU AC while plugged in at the time so I have no knowledge it would operate or not.

For those that know:
If nothing else electrical is used, can the 15,000 BTU AC be used while plugged into a 15 Amp residential plug?

I used mine once on my past camper on 15A, but noticed it was heating up my neutral side of the plug. I quit and decided to install the 30A from then on. I now only use 30A when running the AC in my unit now.

So in short It's really pushing the limits of the circuit from my calculations, it starting amps about 29A, then levels off at around 15A...so I wouldn't try it...

Yes - I use a *good* 20A cord (10g wiring). Normally I run our AC off a 20A circuit, but yes, I've run the 15K Coleman Mach III off a 15A circuit.

As long as it's the only thing running...

X-2...Also as short of an ext cord as possible, or just a 30/20 adapter.

The bigger the extension cord the less capacity loss. I would only do it in an emergency. I check my extension cord by putting my hand on any plug in connections. If they are warm to the touch, IMO it's time to turn some current consuming devices off. AC, heater, hair dryer, coffee pot or water heater.

I ran my converter and a light from time to time until I could get a 30a service to the rig with no problems.

Probably a loose receptacle. Ran a/c alone with a 15 amp, if needed, since our first TT in 1977.

I can run the 15K A/C and the TV off a 15 amp circuit. I don't use an extension cord however (outdoor outlet).
