Wasted Storage Access

Our new-to-us 2013 Greyhawk 31DS has a storage compartment access door immediately behind the duals on the driver's side. However, when this access door is opened, there is not any kind of storage compartment there, just a good view of some tanks, frame, etc. etc. Is there anything any of you have done to make this area of more use, or am I clueless as to its true intended purpose?

Its purpose is usually for plumbing access for under the shower.

On 31 DS shower is on other side of the motorhome. On other floor plans shower may be there. We have a 2018 31DS and same open area behind that door. Some use that space to add additional battery compartment or additional LP tank.
