water coming out inlet?

I have a 2001 Eagle Class C.

Recently, I had to sanitize the system. Closed the water system valve, opened the bypass valve for the clear hose. After sanitizing, I closed the bypass and opened the water system valve. Also, I turned the big handles back to normal.
I thought I followed the directions pretty closely.

But now, as soon as I turn on the water pump, water starts gushing out the water inlet.

Any idea what I messed up? Or is a valve broken?

the check valve may have gone bad. there should be a check valve in the city water connection. One way to find out would be to plug your city water connection and see if all runs ok If so replace the connection Inexpensive fix

The inlet has a check valve in it and has gone bad. Couple years ago I was out west and had the water freeze one night and broke the check valve. I replaced the whole thing three screws and a clamp. Hardest thing is getting to it for the clamp.

Thank you both for the replies!

Is this something I can try to fix? Or should I take it to someone?

Depending on your skills it should be an easy fix

water coming out inlet?

I actually took the three screws out pulled it out enough to get to the hose clamp out and did it without having to pull a panel off for access. I took a small pair of vice grips to hold the hose so it didn't slip back in the hole. If it does then you have a lot more work . They come in different colors I found one that best matched our rig. If you can change the ends on a garden hose you should be able to do the job

First I would push the check valve button in with your finger while in Normal setting with the water pump turned on. I had this happen to me a few years ago and the check valve wasn't seated in correctly. I would also check to see if the cone shaped screen on the washer wasn't depressing the check valve button.

If it ever happens again and you cant reset the check valve, just put a hose cap on the inlet until you can fix it.

Uhh... not quite. The city water inlet is a female connection. The same as the cap.

What is needed is a 3/4" garden hose plug. I don't recall ever seeing them, though.

On hoses, yes

No seriously,
This is what you get. You may already have on in the camper. Install and turn off.
