Water Flow

All of a sudden we have very low water pressure in our 37FS. It worked fine last run but this time it starts ok but then drops to almost zero. You can hear the pump run but it is very quiet all of a sudden as opposed to the original "brrrrrap" sound it made before.
On second issue, it sounds like the pump is running when the "city fill" alignment is used to fill the water tank, is that normal?

No not normal. Be sure your control panel valves are set to the proper numbers.

There is a screen filter inline with the pump that sometimes gets plugged. It’s located just prior to the pump on the freshwater input.

Be sure there isn’t any other valves opened. Outside shower or low point drains.

If your low on fresh water in the tank it will make the pump run without shutting off.

I double checked valve alignments, made sure all the outsides were shut tight etc. I didn't know about the filter so will check it out, would that account for the sound change at the pump do you think?

+1 on the sediment filter in line in front of the pump. It takes a surprisingly small amount of debris to stop flow. I checked mine visually and disregarded it as a possible cause. Later, I thought better of it and I went back and actually removed the filter and ran my finger around inside it. I could feel debris, but it was actually hard to see. So I back-flushed it and cleaned it out REALLY well, put it back and I was back in business.

I couldn't believe how little debris was in there to cause a stoppage.

I experienced the exact same symptoms as you describe.

Yes...that filter if plugged would cause the pump to make that sound because it can’t get any water. The filter is there to protect the pump.

Be aware that most RV parks we all visit use their own well water. It really isn’t a problem except you can expect to get a fairly large amount of sediment and trash in your tanks and lines.

What I do and recommend is put a filter outside on your hose. These hose filters will help trap these contaminates before they make it into your Rv water system.
