Water Pressure Regulators

I have a 2010 Jayco Greyhawk Class C. I have a water pressure regulator on the fresh water hose. Do I also need to place one on my sanitizer hose?

Thank you

I wouldn’t, if you are talking about the tank flush/ clean system the higher pressure will be better.

The regulator prevents pressure build up when no water is being used inside the RV.

Water Pressure Regulator

Doesn't the regulator also help decrease the water pressure coming into your rig so you don't hurt your plumbing?

Thank you

I use a regulator on the domestic supply, but I use a separate hose unregulated to the black tank flush. I think the higher pressure does a better job of cleaning. Also I do not leave the flush hose hooked up to the camper. I don't need an accident where someone accidentally turned it on.

Thank you

It can - if that's what you bought.

When you mention the separate sanitize hose, I guess it depends on how you sanitize your RV.

If you put the bleach solution into a bucket and then siphon from that bucket into your plumbing using the water pump, then no - you won't need a regulator.

If you pick one of the other methods, like pouring the bleach into the garden hose before you hook it up to the City Water connection, then yeah, you'd either use a pressure regulator or just turn down the water pressure at the spigot.

How are you sanitizing the system?

Not sure what most of this post has to do with the OP.

Turning down the faucet/spigot at the CG connection does not regulate the pressure, just reduces the flow rate. When all faucets inside the camper are closed, the pressure inside the lines will equalize to what ever the CG water pressure is at, could be 20 psi, or maybe even 120 psi.

If your referring to the black tank flush system I would highly recommend using a pressure regulator same as your fresh water system....., I do.

There is a 'plastic' vacuum breaker check valve (back flow preventer) installed "somewhere" between the black tank flush hose connection and black tank connection. The RV vacuum breaker is cheaply built and are notorious for leaking, especially under unregulated high water pressure conditions (been there, done it).

Standard plastic RV vacuum breaker.......

I would recommend confirming the location of the vacuum breaker 'within' your RV and frequently inspect for leaks.

Bob

Or, do what I did, and remove the potential problem for good:

I also removed my leaking plastic vacuum breaker and incorporated an elbow...., but I use a 3/4" hose Bibb Vacuum Breaker (Home Depot) that I attached to the outside black tank flush connection...... works great!

Hose Bibb Vacuum Breaker.....
