Water Pump

Having issues with my fresh water pump. Un winterized and turned on the pump It ran but seemed a bit sluggish and after a bit wouldn't pump. It's 2012 Melbourne and the pump is original so my initial thought was it didn't survive winter. Changed the pump and the new one would run but not hold prime and was real aerated at the sink. Teflon taped the fittings and tried again. Now it won't pull water at all. Somewhere is a leak but I can't find it. Anyone know of a way to check the system with air or something? Thanks.

The first thing I would check is to ensure that the valve on the winterize tube (assuming you don't have a water center?) is fully closed. I missed this one year, and the air leaking in the af tube prevented the pump prime. Also, make sure that the filter cover is on tight and not cracked; another common spot for air to get in.

You can also test the pump draw somewhat by putting the anti-freeze tube into a big bucket of water and setting valves appropriately. Can it draw that water okay?

Have you unhooked output line at pump to see if you have water pressure there? We have problem once and unscrewed screen filter, turned pump on and it picked up.

I have eliminated the anti freeze valve and line and the filter/strainer on the end. It's now direct from water management manifold to pump and pump to plumbing. I don't see a screen anywhere in the pump lines. I am stumped on this one!

Found the problems. The supply line had a huge kink in it hidden underneath some other lines and the fitting to the inlet side of the pump was missing a seal. In this 29 D it's all beneath and to the side of the bathroom sink so very tight quarters and hard to see or do anything. At least it's fixed!
