Water pump wont shut off

Anyone ever had a water pump that will not shut off even if you turn off all switches?

2012 Jayco Greyhawk 31FS. All tanks are empty. Attached to shore power. Water pump switches in bathroom and master console in off position. Not connected to City Water. Water pump still tries to work. Makes sense if the power switch is on because it is just sucking air from the empty tank. But also in the off position? Killed all power to the entire unit. Turned power back on but not the pump. Pump kicked on anyway. Will not shut off. Had to open the panel and remove the power cord from the pump to kill it.

I'd say you have a short in the pump switch. The switch is not disconnecting power when you turn it to OFF position. Does the switch light go dark when it is in the OFF position? If not, the switch is the problem.

Sounds like a bad switch.

X2 on at least one bad switch.

Pull 'em both, disconnect the wires (should be slip on connectors).

Check the switches with your VOM or DVM. Also see if the pump doesn't run when the switches are disconnected.

Is there a relay in the circuitry?

A relay in the pump circuit would surprise me since it operates on 12V. That's not enough DC current to warrant the expanse of a relay. But that's just my logic - and experienced opinion.

My Melbourne has a water pump switch in the outside shower compartment. Check to see if your unit has a similar switch - it could have been activated by a bump from the coiled up shower line.Good luck and I hope this is a help for you.
