Water tank overfilled and leaking?

Hiya, first time RV'er here So I just bought my first RV with my fiancee, an '88 Fleetwood Jamboree and we're still learning everything we can about it. We noticed the carpet all around the toilet/shower area and along the side of the bed was very wet last night after filling up our water tank earlier that morning. Is it possible I overfilled the tank and it's leaking into the carpet? We're brand new to RV'ing so I'm worried I made a rookie mistake and just destroyed the interior of our rig. Any tips would be appreciated :/

I am not familiar with that particular camper. Do you know where the FW tank is located? Usually the tank is ether under the floor or under the bed. Usually there is an overflow tube that is routed out and to the ground.

Couple things I would look at. First did the pump cycle on and off when water was not required? If so, there is a leak in the plumbing system. If not, and the tank is under the bed, I would start by checking the fittings around the tank. get a fan, dry it all up, fill the tank and monitor. you might have a loose fitting or some other minor issue. It is not to uncommon that threaded fittings vibrate loose as you travel. I usually find one every few years. It may be obvious where the leak is at, or it could be challenging to find. I have used toilet paper (TP) at times when I just cannot find the issue. Wrap a little TP around potential suspect areas. If it gets wet and then dries, its look changes, and it can help narrow down where a leak is coming from.

Also the issue could be from a broken/cracked pipe or fitting post tank, from water freezing in the line over the winter.

I'm not sure where the tank is on your model, but I would more than likely think that it is a plumbing leak somewhere in the bathroom

Turn on the pump and open the cabinet under sink, remove any panels and inspect plumbing for shower, also check connections to water supply for the toilet

Is this rv new to you recently ?
